Summary
This document is a bespoke evidence submission from the "Ethnicity and Unequal Ageing" project. It documents the steps taken in the project towards developing a fair(er) approach to funding, reflects on challenges and enablers encountered along the way, and identifies actions needed to address persistent barriers. The Ethnicity and Unequal Ageing project is a collaboration between university-based researchers at the Universities of Sheffield, Birmingham and Liverpool, two Voluntary and Community Sector Co-Investigators - Rotherham Ethnic Minority Alliance (REMA) and Sheffield and District African-Caribbean Community Association (SADACCA) - a Co-Investigator at the Office for National Statistics, a range of policy and practice partners across South Yorkshire and a team of Community Researchers. The project explores the everyday lived experiences of racially minoritised older people in Rotherham and Sheffield from an intersectional, life course perspective, considering multidimensional identities including gender, migratory history, race and ethnicity, and the importance of place.
